Cleaning a 1970 Carburetor (Solex, 30 Pict 2)

I have an issue I identified earlier, the car will start and run if I give it gas, BUT it will not idle.

So I decided to rebuild the carb. It has taken me a little while but, I finally got around to cleaning and rebuilding the Carburetor on the bug. I took the two bottom bolts off the Carb, Disconnected the Throttle Cable and the Fuel line and stuffed a rag in the hole of the intake. Then I got done to cleaning the carb. The Outside was covered in grime and a little carb Cleaner and some elbow grease and I was able to get almost everything taken apart and cleaned.


 All the jets sprayed our and the parts replaced that came with my Carb Rebuild kit. The only thing is the Main Jet which has about 6 holes in it wasn't part of the carb rebuild kit, kinda disappointing but I got it cleaned out really good and things should be fine.

Tonight I'll reinstall the carb and test everything out and hopefully this will fix my idle issue.

So got out there and started tearing the interior out to help clean it and really be able to see what shape the underlying metal looks like. The front had carpet, and an under lament for padding, although the carpet was in fairly decent shape,  it looked like hell, so it's gone. As you can see the floor boards have a horrible looking surface rust starting which needs to be taken care of,  another reason to remove things to see what's there.  The next would be the back of the car and all theseats and carpet. The good part is that most of the back does not have floor with floor lament,  it has the seat which covers the battery,  the back rest of the seat which covers the back deck and the ball deck which is typically very protected from sitting water. As you can see just getting the stuff out will give me a much better idea of what's there. Same ol' issue

Well, frustrated, and finally gave up on trying to figure out spark. Here is what I have done so far all to fix a Bug that will Start, but will not idle. Rebuilt a Carburetor (cleaned and replaced everything that looked bad or not functioning including the idle solenoid) Replaced the Air Filter (just needed it) Replaced the Spark Plugs and Spark Plug wires. Replaced the Points, Rotor, Condenser, Distributor Cap. Replaced the Coil Set the timing Adjusted all the valves Replaced the fuel pump, fuel pump push rod. Replaced the Carburetor (Cleaning & Rebuilding didn't work) So I bought the car, and it would start and run if you kept your foot on the gas, it would not idle. I did all of the steps above and still have the exact same issue. BUT the one good thing everything is new. The only last thing I can do is replace the Distributor and put in a new one. Removing the Crankshaft pulley on a 1970 VW bug

Removing the crankshaft or timing pulley from a 1970 VW bug, sounded daunting after reading and researching how it is done. I found this one video that helped. 1st was to remove the NUT which is a 30mm socket and a breaker bar I referenced this video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P-FIjU5weLg My steps were to do exactly like this video said. Except I added some PB blaster for a day prior, then I removed the back tin, then I removed the center wire form my distributor, wedged the breaker bar against the body and tapped the key to start the engine. I know one of the comments said it is only 33ft, pounds tight and you could damage your engine, but on a 47 year old machine with some built up stickyness. I decided it would work after seeing every video say to do it this way and as long as I didn't start the car and only tapped the key it worked beyond my expectations.
