Same ol' issue
Well, frustrated, and finally gave up on trying to figure out spark. Here is what I have done so far all to fix a Bug that will Start, but will not idle.
- Rebuilt a Carburetor (cleaned and replaced everything that looked bad or not functioning including the idle solenoid)
- Replaced the Air Filter (just needed it)
- Replaced the Spark Plugs and Spark Plug wires.
- Replaced the Points, Rotor, Condenser, Distributor Cap.
- Replaced the Coil
- Set the timing
- Adjusted all the valves
- Replaced the fuel pump, fuel pump push rod.
- Replaced the Carburetor (Cleaning & Rebuilding didn't work)
So I bought the car, and it would start and run if you kept your foot on the gas, it would not idle. I did all of the steps above and still have the exact same issue. BUT the one good thing everything is new. The only last thing I can do is replace the Distributor and put in a new one. Even through all of the elements of the distributor are new it seems there is not enough spark.
So Step 10. I purchased a NEW Flamethrower Ignitor Electornic Ignition with a new flamethrower coil. This will remove the points, and condenser and give an electronic ignition.
Hopefully this will fix the issue if not I am not sure what else to do. Fingers Crossed....I have these being delivered tomorrow.
